1. What condition are your items in?
Every item at Dinted is secondhand, but condition varies from gently pre-loved vintage pieces to items that are brand new with their original tags still attached. We inspect, clean, and test (where applicable) every item before listing it, and we clearly note any wear, quirks, or flaws in the product description and photos so you know exactly what to expect.
2. If an item has tags, why is it called secondhand?
Even if an item is unworn or unused with original retail tags, it has already passed through the consumer or retail waste stream. It was headed for disposal, clearance, or landfill before we rescued it. By re-homing it, you’re keeping brand-new surplus stock out of the bin and supporting a truly circular economy.
3. How do you test retro electronics, media, and games?
Functionality matters. Where possible, all electronics, consoles, games, and media are tested before they go live on the store. Any specific details—such as battery health, working order, missing cables, or cosmetic marks—are highlighted directly in the listing.
4. How will my order be packaged?
With 30 years of packaging technology experience behind Dinted, we take protection and the planet seriously. We prioritise recycled, recyclable, and reused packaging materials to ensure your order arrives safely without unnecessary environmental waste. Don’t be surprised if your box has had a previous life—reuse is in our DNA!
5. What are your shipping options and delivery times?
We ship across the UK using tracked courier and postal services. Orders are typically dispatched within 1–2 working days. Once your parcel is on its way, you’ll receive an email with full tracking details so you can follow its journey to your door. We offer free shipping on orders over £30 on a standard service.
6. What is your returns policy?
We want you to love what you find. If an item isn’t quite right, or if something arrives not as described, you can return it within 14 days of delivery. Please reach out to us via our Contact page with your order number to arrange a return.
7. How do you measure your clothing items?
Vintage and secondhand sizing can vary widely between eras and brands, so we always provide exact measurements in inches alongside the original tag size (where available).
-
For tops & jackets: We include pit-to-pit (chest) and inside sleeve measurements (where possible).
-
For bottoms & trousers: We measure the waist, inside leg, front rise, and leg opening/cuff.
We recommend comparing these measurements against a favourite garment you already own to ensure the best fit. If you need any extra measurements not listed, feel free to reach out before purchasing!
8. Are your clothes cleaned before being listed?
Where appropriate for the fabric type, clothing items are steamed and sanitised before being photographed and listed. For delicate vintage pieces, leather, or items with original tags still attached, we take specialised care so the item reaches you fresh and ready to wear without risking damage to the materials or original labelling.
Because we cannot launder every single delicate or deadstock garment, we always recommend giving items a quick wash after receipt according to the care label instructions. If a care label is missing, we suggest checking fabric-care guidelines online to choose the best method.
9. Can an item be held or reserved?
Because almost everything we sell is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece, we operate on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot hold items or reserve stock in your basket. An item is only secured once checkout is fully completed.
10. Can I sell my items through Dinted? (Consignment & Buying)
Yes! We offer a hassle-free consignment service for quality vintage clothing, designer pieces, retro video games, consoles, and classic electronics.
Instead of dealing with photographing, listing, dealing with buyer messages, and packing parcels yourself, we handle the entire process from start to finish:
-
Inspection & prep: We authenticate, test, clean/steam, and professionally photograph your items.
-
Listing & marketing: We write detailed descriptions and showcase your items to our dedicated audience.
-
Packing & fulfilment: When an item sells, we pack it using our sustainable packaging and manage shipping directly to the customer.
-
Payout: You receive an agreed commission once the sale is completed.
If you have a collection, wardrobe clear-out, or rare piece you’d like us to sell on your behalf, get in touch via our Contact page with a brief description and photos.
11. Do you ship internationally?
Yes! While our checkout is currently set up for direct UK orders, we can ship internationally upon request. Simply reach out via our Contact page before purchasing with the item details and your destination, and we’ll provide an accurate shipping quote. Alternatively, international buyers can purchase through our eBay store, where international postage and customs are handled automatically.
12. How often do you drop new items?
We add fresh finds to the store regularly as we source, inspect, and photograph them. Follow us or check back often, as popular retro pieces and rare designer finds tend to sell quickly once listed.
